Caring for myself is not self- indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare. – Audre Lorde
Yesterday at Ladies Who Brunch, I was privileged to speak to a group of 15 women on the importance self-care to the woman on a mission. When life gets busy, self-care is usually the first thing we women throw out the window. I felt that the topic was an appropriate one to share with this dynamic group of women, some managers, business owners, health practitioners, community advocates, and retirees. These women give so much of themselves to others that they need to be reminded that they too are deserving of some consistent care.
This year you can expect a lot more events. My next event is a collaboration with two other amazing women. It is a Journaling, Vision-boarding, and Storytelling workshop and it comes up in February. Join workshop facilitator and journal coach, Carlana Charles, author and community advocate Maureen St Clair, and artist Stacey Byer for an evening of journaling, vision-boarding, and storytelling.
Learn how journaling can be therapeutic and how to make it a ritual in your life. Write your visions for 2018 and discover the joy of vision-boarding and explore why all our stories matter, and why we need to honor and give stories place in our lives. More details on this event coming soon.
